Log Sofas and Storage Ottoman

This log sofa and matching storage ottoman were built as a unified cabin set using select locally harvested hardwoods. The sofa frame is constructed entirely from Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum), with the natural knots, curves, and grain left proudly visible. For added strength and longevity, the vertical back supports are made from Ironwood (American Hop-Hornbeam, Ostrya virginiana).

Each piece is built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout—a time-tested method that creates exceptionally strong, long-lasting furniture without relying on metal brackets or fasteners. The result is a rock-solid frame designed to hold up for generations.

The ottoman—crafted from Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) and set on sturdy Balsam Fir legs (Abies balsamea)—features a fully removable top that lifts off easily, providing maximum interior storage for blankets, pillows, or cabin gear.

The sofa and ottoman are displayed without cushions so the natural wood frames and detailed log work can be fully appreciated. Cushions are optional and can be made in your preferred style or color.
